Minera Sessa

Mining Park Trail

The sixth point of the Malcantone Mining Park Trail is the Selva di Pali

The ruined building bears witness to the agricultural activity of past centuries that extended over almost the entire territory. The terraces that can be glimpsed in the woods clearly indicate the importance of every square metre of land in the production of food for the inhabitants and fodder for the reared animals. Even the most inaccessible areas were tended to produce wood and poles.

A comparison of the two maps shows the strong advance of the forest (green colour) in recent decades due to the abandonment of agricultural activities (pink colour).

The historical route coming from Sessa and Beredino at this point crossed the small valley in the direction of Minora and Nerocco and then headed in two directions: one towards Alpe di Pazz and Miglieglia and the other towards Banco and Novaggio. Today, this route is no longer visible, and the current path takes us to the village of Bombinasco, a settlement that also dates to Celtic times.
