Sentiero del Parco Minerario
The Malcantone Mining Park Trail allows visitors to rediscover part of the mining history of this area. The testimonies that can be encountered along this trail confirm that the exploitation of the mineral resources existing underground began at least 2,000 years ago by the Celtic peoples who lived in these hills.
The first stop leads to the Sessa Gold Mine where it is possible to relive the experience of the miners of the last two centuries. We continue to the Lisora valley where the remains of an open-cast mine from the Celto-Roman era can be seen, and passing through the villages of Bombinasco and Astano with its small lake we reach the Bolle mines. In addition to the mining sites and historical settlements, other testimonies can be admired, including a mill, vestiges of Celtic ritual
sites and small natural biotopes.
